It was muddy, it was bloody, it was hot, it was sweaty, it was draining, it was stressful, it was productive, but above all it was fun!
Friday: we got to Austin and checked into our hotel. I took a shower then discovered my rooms a/c went out! Wackness! We switched rooms with just enough time left to make it to the show on time. I opened the night and as usual I was soaking wet in sweat. Kid Sister's show was an eye opener, she put it down! I think Rad has a crush. Hung out with my friends from Scion. 20/20 came through for the end of the show then took us to Waffle House. I love Waffle House!
Saturday: I felt like a cinder-block. I woke up and could not move. I went to the studio for a session with 20/20, sadly it was more of the same. I could not move, again, and I annoyed. we stayed until about 11:30 and hauled off to the show. I was zapped, but the show must go on. My mother sent me a prayer that was right on time.I love you Mom!
We literally walked into the club to right on stage. within 5 minutes I was on. After the show met with some fans, sold some albums and gave away some promos. After that I was interviewed by a very nice woman (I feel like crap for forgetting her name)about my album, the message in my music and what not. People hugged me even though I was still soaking wet sweaty - very special moment.
I checked my phone messages and received a text from my friend Annice. she just came birth, so I had to stop by. We went back to the hotel, I changed and the guys slept. I hopped in the car and made my way to the hospital, which turned out to be the wrong hospital. Apparently St. Davids has 5 hospitals in Austin. I finally made it to the right hotel at 3 and made it in to see my friend how was so exhausted (obviously) from child-barring. We talked for a bout an hour while they we're running test, before I fell asleep.
Sunday: I didn't plan on spending the night in the hospital, but glad I did Annice and her new born son Patrick needed my support. I woke up ad checked on them, made sure the nurses were on top of it, before I headed out.
Sped off to the hotel packed up and hit the road for Houston. I wasn't feeling good, so Rad was kind enough to drive. At this point I knew there was no way to make my nephews graduation, also I realized we would have to go straight to the show. So we filled up the tank and grabbed some Carl's Jr to go. Vango and i took turns sleeping and sitting in the front.
We made it to Houston in mist of a sudden rain shower (pun intended) which seemed to hover right over the Summerfest. I was hearing different reports of cancellation and delays followed by confusion and detours we made it to the mud slide. Our kicks were claimed as casualties but there as no time to b mad. We pressed in and pressed through making way to our stage right on schedule. Sweat began to pour as the sun came out and I was soaked at the end of our set. Felt good to make new fans and sell some cds, followed by photos and an interview with Valarie from Houston Press made it is all worth it.
Vango & Rad took off. I stayed behind to see Bun B & Slim Thug, then the Flaming Lips an Dead Prez. I ran into several friends and media personalities. Exchanged some cds and gave another interview for an up coming review before finally making it home. I'm still tired! I feel like a bus hit me, but I wouldn't change a thing. This is the life!
