Happy New Year! 2010 is finally here and it feels so futuristic! 2009 was amazing and closed with The Houston Chronicle naming my full length debut album Defiant one of top 10 Albums of the year.

Defiant, Mic Skills: The man behind Houston's popular Mission Control music series (which ended earlier this year) takes an aggressive stance on his solo disc, which stands up solidly against any of the year's national hip-hop releases -- and knock most of them down. The title track, Criminal and Ultimate Weapon are striking and soulful. But there's diversity here, too, including the heartfelt 2 Stories and Roller Rink, a fun pairing with local favorite Karina Nistal.
